Friends and Family

Today's Health and wellness tip is how spending time with some friends and family can also lead to developing a healthier mind, body and soul.
Here are 5 tips to try enhance your relationship with family and friends:
  • Be present.  Put your phone away and truly engage in conversation and enjoy your time together. You'll feel closer to those you care about and have better relationships as a result.
  • Find a way to connect. Meeting up with a friends or family members in person is ideal but not always doable. So hop on the phone or using a video messaging app is another great way to connect when you can't meet or connect at the same time. Calling your loved ones frequently strengthens your bonds and connection, instead of reaching out by text or email only.
  • Family time. Try to dedicate an hour of family time each week, whether you play a game, go for a walk, ride bikes, or just catch up at the dining table over a meal.
  • Get social. There is nothing better than meeting new people, and even if you’re more introverted, there are social groups for every topic. You can join a book club, recreational sports team, painting class, or hiking group to meet new people while doing something you enjoy!
  • Me time. This may sound counter intuitive for me to say, but you need to fill your love bank to be able to feel up for giving to others. There is a balance between both buckets, and the both need attention.
By putting in the time and effort to maintain your relationships, you will enjoy positive returns from these strong connections with the people in your life.
Try to implement some of the recommendations above, and I hope you see the ripple effect of doing so!

Health is a Matter of the Heart- Why Self Love is so important

Self-love is more than feeling good about yourself. Although it does start there, but it  grows into much more. The ripple effect, or as I like to say the "butterfly effect" of this practice in your life benefits many areas of your life. Not just your emotional but also your physical, and spiritual health.

Since self-love is so important  to your overall health, here are some tips  I'd like to share to help you love yourself:

  • Start with something small. Make yourself a priority and create this habit of taking time for yourself, or telling yourself a positive thought or compliment
  • Decide that YOU MATTER You are important and matter so be compassionate and kind to yourself, and accept that making meaningful changes happens over time. Continue to make deposits into your own love bank.
  • Take some time to be mindful. People who have more self-love tend to know what they think, feel, and want. As a result, they are mindful of who they are and act on this knowledge, rather than on what others want for them.
  • Practice DAILY self-care. Take care of your basic needs and being aware of the choices you make regarding your daily  food choices, water intake, how you move your body, and doing your best to get proper sleep.
  • Be CONSISTENT. Consistency is key! It will be what produces the results that you can actually see and FEEL. It's easy to get out of the habit. We are all busy, but this is time well spent and deserves your time.

The benefits of self-love not only brings a positive change to yourself, but also impacts and benefits those you love around you. Which I'm sure your family, friends, and colleagues will all appreciate. Watch how your positive energy becomes contagious and the ripple effect it creates! Put the Butterfly effect into ACTION!

Health and happiness is not a destination that we arrive  at and get to just sit back and enjoy, this is a constant journey that takes constant and consistent action. Ask me, as a yoga instructor and Health Coach, for additional ways you can practice self-love on your journey to your best life. Because you MATTER and are deserving of this LOVE. I'm happy to help remind you and be there for you.
Love,
